As the bracelet evolved for the common folk throughout the 1920s through the early 50s, charm bracelets became symbols of life events, with the charms gathered through time. Many times charms were purchased on vacation or as birthday presents. A young girl knew she was becoming a woman when she received her first charm bracelet.
